Fees
How fees work
How paying for therapy works here, in the order people usually ask.
Insurance we work with
I'm out of network, so Wisp Therapy doesn't bill your insurance, and that includes Medicare and Medicaid. Some plans pay part of the cost of out-of-network care. Your plan decides how much, if anything.
Some PPO and POS plans reimburse out-of-network counseling
Health savings and flexible spending cards, where your plan allows them
If you pay yourself
You pay at the end of each session. I give you your fee in writing before we begin. I keep a limited number of reduced-fee places, so ask about them when you write. Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session; a later cancellation may be charged, up to the fee for the session.
Receipts for reimbursement
At the end of each month you can have an itemized receipt, called a superbill, to send to your plan if you want to ask for reimbursement. It lists a diagnosis code, which your plan will see. Whether your plan pays is its decision, and I can't promise that it will.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what care will cost before you start. I give you a written estimate before your first session. It is an estimate and not a contract, and you can dispute a bill that comes in $400 or more above it.
Checking your benefits
Because I'm out of network, I don't check your benefits for you. Before your first session, call your plan and ask whether it reimburses out-of-network outpatient mental health care, what your deductible is and what share it pays.
Your fee is given in writing before the first session.
